Important funding is coming for the University of Perugia. In fact, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been awarded an Advanced grant in the 2021 call of the Italian Fund for Science, sponsored by the Ministry of University and Research, worth 1.5 million.
Out of nearly two thousand projects, only 47 were selected, including precisely Sms-Safest, which focuses on earthquake-resistant research. Its purpose, in particular, is the development of innovative technology to transform masonry buildings (including those of historical interest) into systems capable of self-diagnosing their state of integrity following an earthquake. A project, which will last five years, endowed with international scope, but at the same time closely linked to the characteristics of the territory and the safety of those who live there.
